About Us & FAQs Contact Us Wine and Food Links & Blogs Site Map      | 2006 Domaine Zind Humbrecht Riesling "Clos Hauserer" Winery: Domaine Zind Humbrecht Vintage: 2006 Wine Name/Vineyard: "Clos Hauserer" Wine Category: Riesling Grape blend: 100% Riesling Region: Alsace State or country: France Price: $67 Cases produced: 600 KWG Score: 91.3 (based on 3 reviews) Ken's Wine Rating: Very Good+ (93.99-90) Review date: July 2, 2008 Wine Review: This was my favorite dry Riesling from the 2006 Zind Humbrecht collection. This pale yellow wine opens with a bit of mustiness. On the palate, this medium bodied wine is balanced, has pleasant acidity, and mineral flavors with a touch of light lime and sweetness. The finish is dry and lingers nicely as it fades away. The very impressive offering would pair quite well with halibut. Enjoy – Ken Winemaker Notes: The nose is classic Clos Hauserer: lots of minerals, stony aromas, citrus fruits. Still quite closed today (before bottling), but the palate reveals such complexity, that it is easy to forecast a great development. The mouth is characterised with great acidity, certainly responsible for the slightly higher residual sweetness, but just like in 2005, this vineyard almost needs it. The finish is clean and crisp.
