2004 Merus Cabernet Sauvignon![]() Winery: Merus Vintage: 2004 Wine Name/Vineyard: Wine Category: Cabernet Sauvignon Grape blend: 94% Cabernet Sauvignon & 6% Malbec & Petite Verdot Region: Napa Valley State or country: CA Price: $153 Cases produced: unknown KWG Score: 96 (based on 4 reviews) Ken's Wine Rating: Excellent (97.99-94) Review date: March 1, 2008 Wine Review: This impressive wine from Merus came in second place in our recent blind tasting of high end red wines. This opaque dark purple wine opens with a very aromatic blackberry and vanilla bouquet with a touch of spice and heat. On the palate this full bodied wine is well balanced, rich, and has plum and blackberry flavors. The finish is dry, a touch acidic, and shows some tannin that gives it some length. This wine was terrific now but certainly could benefit from some cellar aging. The panel felt this wine would pair nicely with a cowboy ribeye or Kobe steak.
