Wine Review: The 2005 vintage for CA Zinfandel lovers will go down as one that will be fondly remembered by foodies. The reason is that most 2005 Zins were not overly powerful like some past vintages, but more food friendly in nature. This Beeson Ranch offering from Dry Creek Vineyard is a perfect reflection of the friendliness of the vintage. This very bright dark red wine opens with a moderate black current like bouquet with a dash of pepper. On the palate, this wine is smooth, elegant, and nicely balanced. The flavor profile is dusty black current with notes of dark chocolate, black cherry, and oak. The finish is dry with food friendly soft tannins that linger for a bit. This is a very easy to drink wine that would pair perfectly with veal marsala. Enjoy – Ken

Winemaker Notes: The Beeson Ranch, planted in 1882, is one of the most prized vineyards in the Dry Creek Valley. This beautiful vineyard produces a unique wine of great depth and character. White pepper, cardamom, and floral aromas are the hallmarks of this wine. Supple tannins mingle with blackberry and dark cherry flavors. The finish is equally memorable for its length and purity of fruit. In a world of average wines, this is a delicious and expressive example of what makes Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel so special.
