Wine Review: This opaque dark purple Syrah from Four Vines is quite impressive. It opens with a cigar smoke like bouquet with a hint of raspberry. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, nicely balanced, and displays lush and delicious blackberry flavors. We also picked up notes of boysenberry and a hint of black pepper. The finish is dry and subtle. This wine would pair well with a hearty beef stew.

Winemaker Notes: The Los Alamos Vineyard lies in the chilly hills of Cat Canyon. Low yield cool climate Syrah offers mid palate spice and pepper rather than the big finish of warmer climate Syrahs. Spice, white pepper and strawberry on the nose. Big fruit on the mouth. White pepper, saddle leather and all the funk that makes pairing with lamb easy. Sexy oak to finish--Legs, legs & legs!!!
