Wine Review: This ruby colored Sangiovese from California is a very powerful and intense version of the grape. It opens with a raisin and black cherry bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, rich, and extracted. The flavor profile is a ripe blackberry and black pepper blend with notes of old oak and blueberry with hints of black cherry. The finish is dry and its dusty oak tannins are rather sticky and it lingers for a while. This big Sangiovese is a good fireplace wine for a cold winter's night. Serve with Cabot's seriously sharp cheddar cheese. Enjoy – Ken

Winemaker Notes: This wine offers the engaging and rich characteristics of a classic Sangiovese. Aromas of seductive vanillin toasty oak mingle with subtle cranberry and pomegranate and a slight mineral essence. Gentle tannins and firm acidity frame delicious flavors of spicy cherry and earth notes. Lingering mocha and vanilla, with just a touch of orange, finish the wine. Perfect with grilled sausages, onions, and peppers served over creamy polenta, or ideal for your next informal Italian meal.
