2008 Altos Las Hormigas Malbec![]() Winery: Altos Las Hormigas Vintage: 2008 Wine Name/Vineyard: Wine Category: Malbec Grape blend: 100% Malbec Region: Mendoza State or country: Argentina Price: $13 Cases produced: 30,000 KWG Score: 87 (based on 2 reviews) Ken's Wine Rating: Very Good (87) Review date: December 26, 2009 Wine Review: This reasonably priced everyday Malbec shows well every vintage. This year it is dark ruby colored and opens with a mild black cherry and cranberry bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced, slightly acidic and juicy. The flavor profile is a tasty black cherry with notes of black raspberry and light old oak. The finish is dry and its very mild tannins are subtle. This would be a Very Good choice at your favorite pub with a juicy Angus burger smothered with Swiss and sautéed mushrooms. Enjoy - Ken Winemaker Notes: Deep purple red colour, with bright hues. Nose of crushed cherries, raspberries, and dried violet petals, hints of nutmeg. Powerful mouth feel, ample and structured, sustained, long finish.
