| 2008 Arrowood Cabernet Sauvignon "Sonoma Valley" Winery: Arrowood Vintage: 2008 Wine Name/Vineyard: "Sonoma Valley" Wine Category: Cabernet Sauvignon Grape blend: 100% Cabernet Sauvignon Region: Sonoma Valley State or country: CA Price: $35 Cases produced: 3,255 KWG Score: 91.6 (based on 3 reviews) Ken's Wine Rating: Very Good+ (90) Review date: May 16, 2011 Wine Review: This opaque and dark purple colored Cabernet Sauvignon opens with a black cherry bouquet with a hint of black licorice, pomegranate, leather and oak. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, well balanced, easy going, and approachable. The flavor profile is a tasty mild black currant with notes of dried cranberry and plum. I also detected a hint of gentle oak. The finish is dry and its very refined tannins are nicely prolonged. I would recommend drinking this food friendly Cab in the near term with a filet mignon or prime rib with horseradish sauce on the side. Enjoy – Ken Winemaker Notes: The use of Sonoma Valley hillside vineyards gives structure to a particularly intense and concentrated CabernetSauvignon. This Cabernet has very rich aromas of cassis, black cherries, and plums with nuances of toasty oak in the background. On the palate, the wine shows its underlying depth of dark fruit. It is silky in texture with almost a sweet impression that lingers into a plethora of black fruits, cassis, and a nuance of dark chocolate on the finish. Organic status: not organic Buy it: Use 1000 Corks to find stores that sell Arrowood 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon.
