Wine Review: This dark ruby and slightly opaque Syrah from Copain opens with an oak and blueberry bouquet with a hint coconut. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced and savory. The flavor profile is a tasty boysenberry and toasty oak blend with notes of olive and stewed plum. I also detected a hint of beef jerky mixed in. The finish is dry and its moderate tannins stick around for quite a while. This Syrah would pair well with a Colorado lamb chops. Enjoy - Ken

Winemaker Notes: The 2016 Les Voisins Syrah is a real expression of the Yorkville Highlands appellation. On the nose, hints of lavender intertwined with violet, and blueberry. Sturdy tannins and a nervy grip give this wine its spine. As the wine opens up, savory aromas of seared meats and rosemary emerge. The wine is certainly testy at this point, but after decanting for an hour, this wine is open for business. This Syrah will continue to evolve in interesting ways over the next 10 years, as new, hidden layers come in into focus.
