Wine Review: This opaque and dark purple colored blend from Dry Creek recently came to me for review. The wineries patience with this 2013 has paid off. Unlike many 2013’s, it is not over the top. It opens with an attractive blueberry bouquet with hints of cherry and cinnamon. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, slightly acidic, round, juicy and fruit forward. The flavor profile is a tasty mild mineral infused plum and black currant blend with notes of gentle oak. I also detected hints of strawberry, black tea and cinnamon stick that linger at the very end. The finish is dry and its well-managed fine tannins linger and last for quite some time. I would give this very good value wine a good swirl and serve it with a filet mignon. Enjoy - Ken

Winemaker Notes: The 2013 vintage is beautifully balanced from start to finish. Aromas of dried floral, bright red fruit and classic red cherry tones are evident at first swirl. After several minutes of airing, the wine opens up and reveals nuanced spices and dark fruit qualities. On the palate, the wine is delicious with a silky lushness and tannins that are elegant. The finish is seamless and well integrated. This wine will age beautifully and develop in the bottle for years to come. This is a classically styled Meritage that showcases just how well the Bordeaux varietals grow in Dry Creek Valley.
