Wine Review: This dark ruby colored Pinot Noir opens with an attractive blueberry bouquet with a hint of black raspberry. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, very balanced and really smooth. The flavor profile is a tasty blueberry with hints of gentle oak and faint black currant in the background. The finish is dry and its flavors and fine tannins fade away nicely. This Pinot is very food friendly. I would pair it with pan-seared veal medallions with French Morels. Enjoy - Ken

Winemaker Notes: Freestone is once again a standout for the vintage, showing gorgeous black cherry, black plum, thyme and clove on the nose, with the candied blackberry character likening to what Frambois is to raspberry. In the mouth, the wine is broody and dark spice with a lift of creamy red fruit. The juicy cherry/cranberry/blackberry has the perfect sweet/tart balance that we love, and the sweet, substantial tannins, solid structure, and nice acid extends the berry and toffee finish. As always, we love to just sip this wine on its own (who needs food when you have wine like this?), but it would also make an excellent accompaniment to hearty fish like tuna or salmon, as well as meats with a nice herbal rub, or an aged cheddar with a salty bite.
