Wine Review: This opaque and pitch black colored Mountain Cabernet opens with a mild black currant and blackberry bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, juicy and very fruit forward. The flavor profile is a very tasty black raspberry with notes of nicely integrated vanilla oak. I also detected notes of blackberry, black pepper, and cassis that add to it complexity. The finish is dry and its moderate tannins are sticky and linger for quite some time. This wine is built for steak. I would choose a NY strip steak. Enjoy - Ken

Winemaker Notes: A new wine from Ferrari-Carano, our 2008 Reserve, Mountain Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon comes from our two mountain ranches, Rock Rise and Look Out, in Alexander Valley. Fog drifts over the tops of the coastal mountains and burns off quickly in the morning sunshine, resulting in a warm climate with almost full sun throughout the day – ideal conditions for our Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. Delicious aromas of Bing cherry, dried herbs, cedar and dark chocolate are complemented by lush flavors of wild blackberry, black tea, licorice and caramel. This wine finishes with full, rustic, age-worthy tannins and lingering flavors of vanilla bean, mocha and sweet oak.
