Wine Review: This very dark ruby colored Syrah from Force Majeure was very well-received. It opens with boysenberry and old oak bouquet with a hint of plum. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, balanced, and opulent. The flavor profile is a mineral influenced black currant with notes of blueberry. I also detect hints of tea and oak as well. The finish is dry and its flavors and well-managed mild tannins fade away nicely. This Syrah is food friendly and would pair well with tagliatelle with wild boar ragout and pecorino di pienza. Winemaker Notes: Our Red Mountain estate Syrah is grown predominantly at the top of our hillside vineyard, where it is steepest and rockiest. Its a powerful but elegant wine with a volcanic soil backbone. There are a variety of Syrah clones and trellising methods employed, including gobelet sur echalas The wine was bottled unfined and unfiltered.
