2008 Francois Lurton Spanish Red "El Albar Excelencia"![]() Winery: Francois Lurton Vintage: 2008 Wine Name/Vineyard: "El Albar Excelencia" Wine Category: Spanish Red Grape blend: 100% Tinta de Toro Region: Castilla y Leon State or country: Spain Price: $45 Cases produced: unknown KWG Score: 90 (based on 2 reviews) Ken's Wine Rating: Very Good+ (90) Review date: April 27, 2012 Wine Review: This dark ruby colored wine opens with smoky plum and blackberry like bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied and very smooth with just a touch of elevated acidity. The flavor profile is a slightly tart black currant with notes of oak and tobacco. There is also a bit of black licorice and clove spice mixed in as well. The finish is dry and its flavors subtly slip away in front of very mild tannins and a touch of minerality that shows up in the aftertaste. I would suggest pairing it with beef bourguignon.
