Wine Review: This was my second favorite wine at a recent tasting of the new 2009 Beaujolais offerings from Georges Duboeuf. It is bright ruby colored and opens with a mild oak and blueberry bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, well balanced, and very smooth. The flavor profile is a tasty mild black raspberry with a hint of strawberry and a dash of black pepper. The finish is dry and its building fine tannins are sticky and linger for a while. I would pair this very well made and affordable gem with pork tenderloin. Enjoy – Ken

Winemaker Notes: This Fleurie has a deep garnet color and offers a complex, intense nose, with a delightful harmony and balance between floral (iris, peony) and red and dark berry aromas. Smooth and clean on the palate, with an impression of sweetness and mellow, racy tannins. Good length on the finish. Delicious: a promise of pleasure!

Your comments on this wine:

Clinking Glasses Before Tasting Wine: Originates from medieval times. Milk was often spoiled, water was often polluted. Wine was usually safe. The host would drink the wine first and then clink glasses with guests to show the wine was good and safe for drinking.
