2009 Herdade do Esporao Portugal Red "Reserva Red"![]() Winery: Herdade do Esporao Vintage: 2009 Wine Name/Vineyard: "Reserva Red" Wine Category: Portugal Red Grape blend: Aragonez, Trincadeira, Alicante Bouschet & Cabernet Sauvignon Region: Alentejo State or country: Portugal Price: $25 Cases produced: unknown KWG Score: 88 (based on 1 review) Ken's Wine Rating: Very Good (88) Review date: July 14, 2012 Wine Review: This opaque and very dark purple colored wine opens with a very fragrant black raspberry bouquet with notes of old oak and ripe blackberry as well. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, slightly acidic, yet has a round mouthfeel. The flavor profile is an extracted ripe plum and Chambord blend with notes of oak, black pepper. The finish is rather dry and its intense fruit flavors and a little heat linger for a while after the wine is gone. This wine will really appeal to readers who like full throttle red and Port. This wine is built for a hearty meal. I would decant it and serve it with slow cooked beef stew.
