Wine Review: This very dark ruby colored Cabernet Franc from La Jota is Excellent. It opens with a fragrant and attractive plum bouquet with hints of cranberry and faint leather. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, balanced and smooth. The flavor profile is a tasty plum with notes of black cherry. I also detected hints of cinnamon and faint oak. The finish is dry and its flavors and mild well managed tannins stick around for a bit and then drifts away nicely. The Cab Franc is food friendly and would pair well with pork tenderloin. Winemaker Notes: On the palate the 2013 La Jota Cabernet Franc has dark raspberry, black tea, and candied walnuts. The faithful Howell Mountain shale contributes slight minerality. Full bodied and complex, the palate is rich with tannins.
