Wine Review: This ruby colored Pinot from Merry Edwards opens with a fragrant black cherry and Canada mint bouquet with some earthy notes detected as well. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced, and savory. The flavor profile is a ripe black raspberry with notes of black pepper and red currant. The finish is dry and its moderate tannins are tingly and show very nice length for a Pinot. The panel thought this wine would be an ideal match with beef bourguignon or dark chocolate. Enjoy - KWGTP

Winemaker Notes: This year's luscious offering enthusiastically displays its Pommard clonal heritage with a deep ruby color and rich, ripe, dark cherry aroma. Scents of licorice, wildflowers, sassafras and exotic cardamom add depth, expanding the wine's allure. Lively, forward fruit carries through on the palate, producing a Pinot that is bold and juicy with firm tannins and bright acidity. There is a subtle undercurrent of intensity building in this wine, as if it’s just waiting to unleash its power. Pair it with game hens stuffed with Montmorency cherries and served over a bed of wild rice.

Clinking Glasses Before Tasting Wine: Originates from medieval times. Milk was often spoiled, water was often polluted. Wine was usually safe. The host would drink the wine first and then clink glasses with guests to show the wine was good and safe for drinking.
