Wine Review: This dessert wine from Monsanto is impressive. It is burnt orange colored and opens with a sweet rum cake like bouquet. It is full bodied, slightly sweet, and viscous. The flavor profile is a tasty fig, brown sugar and mild rum blend. I also detected hints of apricot, milk chocolate, and oak that added to its complexity. The finish remains sweet and displays controlled heat for this style of wine. This dessert wine would be a perfect match for pecan pie and a good way to finish off an evening. Enjoy - Ken

Winemaker Notes: The Vinsanto is made up of 50% Trebbiano Toscano and 50% of Malvasia del Chianti. After the harvest, the selected grapes are dried on rush mattings until the end of January. After the start of the fermentation the must is placed in 55- and 110-litre oaken half-barriques where it matures for a period of 12 years with a series of alternating phases of fermentation.
