Wine Review: This opaque and almost pitch black colored Syrah opens with a new leather bouquet with hints of blackberry and black cherry in the background. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced, and savory. The flavor profile is a mild oak influenced gentle black currant with notes of beef jerky and salami. The finish is dry and its moderate tannins are well managed. This wine would pair well with beef bourguignon. Cheers - Ken

Winemaker Notes: The wine has a deeply saturated purple-black color. On the nose, the wine shows some complexity with dark berry fruit competing with mineral, lavender, white pepper for attention. On the palate, the wine shows tension between the ripe fruit, acidity, and tannins.

Your comments on this wine:

Clinking Glasses Before Tasting Wine: Originates from medieval times. Milk was often spoiled, water was often polluted. Wine was usually safe. The host would drink the wine first and then clink glasses with guests to show the wine was good and safe for drinking.
