Wine Review: This slightly opaque dark purple colored red blend from Robert Foley was very well received by members of my tasting panel. It opens with a fragrant black cherry and blackberry bouquet with a hint of oak and tobacco. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced, and polished. The flavor profile is a delicious concentrated boysenberry and black cherry blend with hints of oak, black licorice, and a dash of black pepper. The finish is dry and its sticky tannins linger for quite some time. The group thought this wine was a lot of wine for the money and that it would pair well with a well marbled ribeye. Enjoy - Ken

Winemaker Notes: Even more powerful than our first Griffin from the ‘07 vintage, the ’08 is a blend of 42% blockbuster Petite Sirah, 40% super-ripe Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% black and soft Charbono, and 8% ripe and round Merlot. This California red wine blend is a mouthful of fruit, which will stand up to any varietal wine and will entice you to break out the barbecue.

Clinking Glasses Before Tasting Wine: Originates from medieval times. Milk was often spoiled, water was often polluted. Wine was usually safe. The host would drink the wine first and then clink glasses with guests to show the wine was good and safe for drinking.
