Wine Review: Do not let the vintage fool you. This dark ruby colored Merlot has just emerged from the Rocca cellars. It is very very good and ready to go. It opens with a winter mint and mild red cherry bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced, elegant, silky and mature. The flavor profile is a gentle black cherry and mild black currant blend with hints of faint oak. The finish is dry and its fine tannins are seamless. This Merlot has aged well and is released at the perfect time to enjoy with a filet mignon on your favorite steakhouse. Enjoy - Ken

Winemaker Notes: While it certainly reflects the concentration and depth of this low-yielding vintage, our 2006 Merlot is remarkable for its precision and elegance. The wine's rich, inviting aromas conjure up notions of warm spiced cherries, cinnamon and cloves, dark sweet raspberries, caramel and pipe tobacco. The texture is broad and soft from beginning to end, coating the palate with sweet fruit and spices. Our Grigsby Vineyard's signature elegance is on full display here, as the wine finishes with ultra-soft tannins and a lasting impression of finely balanced ripe fruit flavors.
