Wine Review: This pitch black colored Syrah opens with a black currant and blackberry bouquet. The flavor profile is a black currant and black licorice blend with notes of old oak. I also detected hints of blackberry and soy mixed in as well. The finish is dry and its flavors linger for a while after the wine is gone. This Syrah will appeal to fans of wines from the Northern Rhone valley. Serve it with slow cooked beef brisket. Enjoy - Ken

Winemaker Notes: The introduction to this robust Syrah is of intense berry fruit and toast. Floral notes and aromas of sweet tea and spice add complexity. Full on the palate, this bright, youthful wine is well-structured, its concentrated fruit shaped by prominent tannins. The 2009 Syrah is multi-layered and complex with a lingering finish. Drink 2012 to 2018. In its youth, decant for 1 to 2 hours before service.
