2004 Valenciso Spanish Red "Reserva"![]() Winery: Valenciso Vintage: 2004 Wine Name/Vineyard: "Reserva" Wine Category: Spanish Red Grape blend: 100% Tempranillo Region: Rioja State or country: Spain Price: $40 Cases produced: 8,700 KWG Score: 91.3 (based on 3 reviews) Ken's Wine Rating: Very Good (89) Review date: September 28, 2009 Wine Review: This bright ruby colored offering from Rioja has a lot of Zinfandel characteristics. It opens with a spicy red raspberry bouquet with a hint of ripe red cherry. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, well balanced, and smooth. The flavor profile is a juicy black raspberry with notes of black licorice and strawberry. There was also a hint of prune detected. The finish is dry and it’s rather big tannins stick around for quite sometime. This wine would pair well with spaghetti with spicy Italian sausage. Enjoy – Ken Winemaker Notes: Highly polished, tightly wound, and elegant wine with refined aromatics. Fine tannins provide a silky texture, leading to a persistent finish of red berries and sweet oak. Blossoms both in body and flavor with decantation and will age gracefully for years, in the manner of top Burgundy.
