Lohr - Brenden Wood \" width=\"232\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><span style=\"color: #000000;\">On Wednesday, September 11, 2024, we interviewed<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jlohr.com\/story\/our-team\/brenden-wood\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Brenden Wood<\/strong><\/a><span style=\"color: #000000;\">. Brenden is the red-wine winemaker for<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jlohr.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>J. Lohr winery<\/strong><\/a><span style=\"color: #000000;\">. We covered seven new-release red wines: one from the 2022 vintage, five from the 2021, and their &#8220;Signature&#8221; wine from the 2020 vintage. Check out what we learned from and about Brendon in the post.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Before we get to the wines, I thought I would share some tidbits Brendon shared.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jlohr.com\/story\/our-team\/jerry-lohr-2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Jerry Lohr<\/strong><\/a> <span style=\"color: #000000;\">is 87 years old and is still very active.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Brendan went to Cal Poly and graduated in 1999 with a degree in biochemistry.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Brendan has been at J. Lohr since 2004. He has been an enologist, and was the assistant winemaker for a while. He was made the red winemaker in 2019.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Red Wines are all made in Paso Robles.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">White Wines are made in Monterey (Arroyo Seco) by white winemaker<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jlohr.com\/story\/our-team\/kristen-barnhisel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Kristen Barnhisel<\/strong><\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">J. Lohr is still family run by the second generation.<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jlohr.com\/story\/our-team\/steve-lohr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Steve Lohr<\/strong><\/a> <span style=\"color: #000000;\">is the CEO.<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jlohr.com\/story\/our-team\/cynthia-lohr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Cynthia Lohr<\/strong><\/a><span style=\"color: #000000;\"> is the Chief Brand Officer and head of marketing.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">J. Lohr&#8217;s first wine was made in 1974.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Home Ranch Vineyard is about 1,000 acres. It is right in front of the winery.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The &#8220;Cuvee&#8221; program arose after a trip to Bordeaux in 1990. First vintage of the program was 1996-97.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The first &#8220;Signature&#8221; Cab was made in 2013. It is Jerry Lohr&#8217;s statement wine.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Petite Sirah does exceptionally well in Paso. It&#8217;s dry climate helps it avoid mold.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Many of their wines are sold in 6 packs and 3 packs.
