Ashley is their winemaker. We covered their first Chardonnay which is from the 2023 vintage. We also covered seven Pinot Noirs. One from the 2021 vintage, two from 2022, and four from 2023. Below you can learn about Innumero and read about these wines.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Before we get to the wines, I thought I would share some tidbits that Sheree, Brian, and Ashley shared in the interview.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Some background on Sheree and Brian Thornsberry.<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Moved from St. Louis to Santa Rosa, CA.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Motivated to follow their dream after their eldest son told them they were &#8220;above average.&#8221;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">They started the winery in 2021.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Sheree is the CEO and runs the winery business day to day.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Brian still works full time in financial services and has been doing that for 30 years.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Brian works with the vineyard owners and sources all the grapes for their project.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Why Innumero and what does it mean?<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Meaning: (Latin) countless, numberless, beyond the numbers.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kenswineguide.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Ashley-Herzberg-Innumero-Winemaker-Home.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-2591\" src=\"https:\/\/www.kenswineguide.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Ashley-Herzberg-Innumero-Winemaker-Home-197x300.gif\" alt=\"Ashley Herzberg Innumero Winemaker\" width=\"197\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Some background on Ashley Herzberg.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Ashley is from the Tahoe area and studied chemical engineering at the University of Nevada.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Ashley left a medical career to start working at Owl Ridge Wine Services in Sebastopol.<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">At this custom crush facility, Ashley quickly moved up from Lab Technician to Lab Manager and worked with Merry Edwards and Carol Shelton.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">By mid-2007, Ashley found herself at Mauritson Wines as Enologist and soon was named Assistant Winemaker.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In 2011, she decided to take the leap into consulting.<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">She started making Chardonnay for Bacigalupi Vineyards for their inaugural vintage of 2011.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Since 2011, she also makes sparkling, and Rhone styled wines for Amista Vineyards in the Dry Creek Valley. She also helped them achieve their organic certification of their vineyards in 2024.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Ashley brings her scientific approach to the art of winemaking, ensuring control and consistency while letting the natural expression of the vineyard shine through.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">We learned about bulldogging from Ashley.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">We learned that the Innumero wines are unfined and unfiltered.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Ashley uses very little intervention in their wine. This allows the vineyard to express itself.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">We learned that sometimes Sheree and Brian come up with new ideas and Ashley says. &#8220;We are not going to do that.&#8221;<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Ashley makes the Innumero wines at<\/span> <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.grandcrucustomcrush.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Grand Cru Custom Crush<\/a><\/strong>.\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">We cover a lot of wines made in this facility including Saxon Brown, Black Kite, Moret Brealynn, and Maritana.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">What is new at Innumero?<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">They will introduce a Sauvignon Blanc to the lineup for the 2024 vintage.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">They will have another Chard from the Ellen Lane Vineyard coming online this fall.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The will have a new Pinot source for 2025. 100% 777 Clone from Lancel Creek Vineyard.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">They are also looking to source grapes from the Shark Tooth Vineyard which is three ridges from the ocean. It is new vineyard in the Fort Ross-Seaview AVA developed by vineyard architect and manager Charlie Chenoweth.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The 2023 Chardonnay is Innumero&#8217;s first ever Chardonnay produced.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Norstar Wines<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The name &#8220;Norstar&#8221; set their compass for their direction and what they wanted.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In 2022 and 2023 they used 100% Wente in this wine.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Little Boot Vineyard is 6-7 acres west of Sebastopol. In 2023 they used 100% Calera grapes.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Bootlegger&#8217;s Hill Vineyard<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The Chard is 100% Hyde Wente grapes.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The Pinot is 100% Pommard grapes.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">&#8220;Barrel Select&#8221; started with the 2022 vintage.
