if\u00c2\u00a0Ros\u00e9\u00c2\u00a0is\u00c2\u00a0 the new summer wine of choice.<span>\u00c2\u00a0 W<\/span>ill Ros\u00e9 ultimately become more popular than Sauvignon Blanc, Chenin Blanc, <st1:place>Beaujolais<\/st1:place>, or expensive Pinot Noir?<span>\u00c2\u00a0 O<\/span>ur conclusion is that Ros\u00e9 is a nice option if folks want to try something different, but we think most\u00c2\u00a0people will stick to their favorite wines.<span>\u00c2\u00a0 <\/span>On the whole, we found many of the Ros\u00e9s we tasted to be Good, but only a couple to be Very Good.<\/font><o:p><font face=\"Times New Roman\">\u00c2\u00a0 <\/font><\/o:p><font face=\"Times New Roman\">In our blind tasting, we tried 12 Ros\u00e9s.<span>\u00c2\u00a0 <\/span>We recommended 2 of them as Very Good.<span>\u00c2\u00a0 <\/span>We also recommended 4 others with an honorable mention of Good+, which means we scored them\u00c2\u00a0above 86 points but not quite 87 points.\u00c2\u00a0 <\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><\/font><font face=\"Times New Roman\">What wines scored Very Good and why?<\/font><o:p><font face=\"Times New Roman\">\u00c2\u00a0<\/font><\/o:p><font face=\"Times New Roman\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" align=\"left\" width=\"160\" src=\"http:\/\/www.kenswineguide.com\/images_wine\/Fritz%202007%20Rose.gif\" alt=\"Fritz 2007 Rose\" height=\"153\" \/>The winner was the <strong><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.kenswineguide.com\/wine.php?wine=3089\" title=\"Fritz 2007 Rose\">2007 Fritz Ros\u00e9<\/a><\/strong> $16.<span>\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0We have<\/span>\u00c2\u00a0recommended this wine two vintages in a row.<span>\u00c2\u00a0 <\/span>This year we scored this wine an 87.25.<span>\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0It<\/span> is made from a variety of grapes.<span>\u00c2\u00a0 <\/span>The blend is 39% Zinfandel, 33% Syrah, 16% Pinot Noir, and 12% Cabernet Sauvignon.<span>\u00c2\u00a0 <\/span>This magical blend from the <st1:place><st1:placename>Dry<\/st1:placename> <st1:placetype>Creek<\/st1:placetype> <st1:placetype>Valley<\/st1:placetype><\/st1:place> offers predominately peach flavors, but nectarine and grapefruit were noted as well.<span>\u00c2\u00a0 <\/span>We think you will really like this wine for your next pool party.<span>\u00c2\u00a0 <\/span>There are only 206 cases of this gem so going direct to the winery might be your best bet. <\/font><font face=\"Times New Roman\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" align=\"right\" width=\"107\" src=\"http:\/\/www.kenswineguide.com\/images_wine\/Crios%202007%20Rose%20of%20Malbec.gif\" alt=\"Crios 2007 Rose\" height=\"400\" \/>Our next favorite\u00c2\u00a0Ros\u00e9 came from Susana Balbo.<span>\u00c2\u00a0 <\/span>Her <strong><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.kenswineguide.com\/wine.php?wine=3508\" title=\"Susana Balbo 2007 Crios Rose of Malbec\">2007 \u201cCrios Ros\u00e9 of Malbec\u201d\u009d<\/a><\/strong> for $12 scored an 87.16.<span>\u00c2\u00a0 <\/span>This Ros\u00e9 offering from <st1:place><st1:city>Mendoza<\/st1:city>, <st1:country-region>Argentina <\/st1:country-region><\/st1:place>is made from 100% Malbec.<span>\u00c2\u00a0 <\/span>This light to medium bodied wine is smooth, crisp, and nicely balanced. <span>\u00c2\u00a0<\/span>The flavor profile is light strawberry, with a hint of cranberry and a touch of sweetness.<span>\u00c2\u00a0 <\/span>The other good news is they also made a lot of this tasty value wine.<span>\u00c2\u00a0 <\/span>They made 12,000 cases.<\/font><font face=\"Times New Roman\"> <\/font><o:p><font face=\"Times New Roman\">\u00c2\u00a0<\/font><\/o:p><font face=\"Times New Roman\">Our honorable mention wines are as follows: <\/font><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><font face=\"Times New Roman\">#3 <strong><a target=\"_blank\" closed the book on Ros\u00e9s, we had a few wines that came in\u00c2\u00a0after the official\u00c2\u00a0tasting that we tasted non-blind.<span>\u00c2\u00a0 <\/span>These wines all scored Very Good or Good+ so we thought you might appreciate a couple more options.<span>\u00c2\u00a0 <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" align=\"left\" width=\"180\" src=\"http:\/\/www.kenswineguide.com\/images_wine\/Carol%20Shelton%202007%20Rendezvous%20Rose.gif\" alt=\"Caral Shelton 2007 Rose\" height=\"339\" \/><\/span>The first option was <strong><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.kenswineguide.com\/wine.php?wine=3547\" title=\"Carol Shelton 2007 Rendezvous Rose\">Carol Shelton&apos;s 2007 \u201cRendezvous Ros\u00e9\u201d\u009d<\/a><\/strong> $?? from <st1:place><st1:city>Mendocino County<\/st1:city>, <st1:state>CA<\/st1:state><\/st1:place>.<span>\u00c2\u00a0 <\/span>I found this Very Good, light bodied wine to be dry, round, and the most European in style of all the Ros\u00e9s we tried recently.<span>\u00c2\u00a0 <\/span>It reminded me of the classic Ros\u00e9s we get from <st1:state><st1:place>Provence<\/st1:place><\/st1:state>.<span>\u00c2\u00a0 <\/span>The flavors I tasted were raspberry like with dried cranberry notes.<span>\u00c2\u00a0 <\/span>I would suggest that you enjoy it with a burger on the deck this summer.<\/font><o:p><font face=\"Times New Roman\">\u00c2\u00a0<\/font><\/o:p><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><font face=\"Times New Roman\">The second one we would recommend is <strong><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.kenswineguide.com\/wine.php?wine=3396\" title=\"Mulderbosch 2007 Rose of Cabernet\">Mulderbosch&apos;s 2007 \u201cRos\u00e9 of Cabernet\u201d\u009d<\/a><\/strong> $12.<span>\u00c2\u00a0 <\/span>This Very Good wine is dry, round, crisp, with dusty strawberry like flavors.<span>\u00c2\u00a0 <\/span>It is a nice Ros\u00e9 option for Red Wine lovers.<\/font><font face=\"Times New Roman\">\u00c2\u00a0<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font face=\"Times New Roman\">The third option is the <strong><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.kenswineguide.com\/wine.php?wine=3546\" title=\"Domaine Houchart 2007 Rose\">2007 Domaine Houchart Ros\u00e9<\/a>\u00c2\u00a0<\/strong>$10 from &#8220;Cotes de Provence&#8221;.<span>\u00c2\u00a0 <\/span>We found this bright pink Good+ wine to have tasty berry flavors with notes of minerality.<span>\u00c2\u00a0 <\/span>This refreshing wine would be nice by the pool and with oysters or bacon wrapped scallops.<\/font><font face=\"Times New Roman\"><span>\u00c2\u00a0 <\/span>This is the second year in a row we have recommended this value priced Ros\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><\/font><font face=\"Times New Roman\"><o:p><\/o:p><\/font><o:p><font face=\"Times New Roman\">\u00c2\u00a0<\/font><\/o:p><font face=\"Times New Roman\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" align=\"right\" width=\"180\" src=\"http:\/\/www.kenswineguide.com\/images_wine\/Banfi%202007%20Rosa%20Regale.gif\" alt=\"Castello Banfi 2007 Rosa Regale\" height=\"95\" \/>The last option is an interesting Ros\u00e9 like the sparkling wine option that I came across from Banfi Cellars.<span>\u00c2\u00a0 <\/span>This option is called the <strong><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.kenswineguide.com\/wine.php?wine=3535\" title=\"Castello Banfi 2007 Rosa Regale\">2007 &#8220;Rosa Regale&#8221; from Castello Banfi<\/a><\/strong> $20.<span>\u00c2\u00a0 <\/span>This wine from the <st1:place>Piedmont <\/st1:place>is made from 100% Brachetto d&#8217;Acqui.<span>\u00c2\u00a0 <\/span>What?&#8230;I never heard of it either, but what I can tell you is that it is quite tasty.<span>\u00c2\u00a0 <\/span>We recent attended a wine tasting party, and I brought this fun wine with us. It was a hit! It is a cranberry colored wine, with fine bubbles, and it opened with a pleasant light cranberry bouquet with a touch of spice.
