Rebekah is the winemaker at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.quintessa.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Quintessa Winery<\/strong><\/a> and the owner and winemaker for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.postandvine.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Post &amp; Vine<\/strong><\/a>. During the interview, we covered two Quintessa wines: the winery\u2019s 2025 \u201cIllumination\u201d Sauvignon Blanc and 2022 \u201cRed Wine\u201d from Rutherford. We also covered a Post &amp; Vine 2023 Zinfandel from a historic vineyard in Lodi and a 2022 \u201cOld Vine Field Blend\u201d from Mendocino. We last interviewed Rebekah in March of 2025, when we covered previous vintages of the wines. (Some of these wines are also still available) In the current interview, Rebekah shared some updates since our last chat. Finally, you can read the summary of our reviews of all of these wines in this post!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Before we get to the wine reviews, I thought I would share a few tidbits we learned during the tasting with Rebekah.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">What is new at Quintessa and Post &amp; Vine?<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kenswineguide.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/Quintessa-Estate.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-2900\" src=\"https:\/\/www.kenswineguide.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/Quintessa-Estate.gif\" alt=\"Quintessa Estate\" width=\"250\" height=\"188\" \/><\/a>Quintessa is still replanting about 5% to 8% of their vineyard each year.<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">After next year they will take a pause in the replanting as the average age of the vineyard as a whole will be 25 years. This is a sweet spot age.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">What is the grape makeup at Quintessa?<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">75% Cabernet Sauvignon<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">9% Cabernet Franc<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">5% Carmenere<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">1% Merlot<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">1% Petit Verdot<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">9% Fallow or Sauvignon Blanc<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In 2023 Post &amp; Vine made an \u201cOld Vine Zinfandel\u201d from the Historic <a href=\"https:\/\/historicvineyardsociety.org\/vineyard\/stampede-vineyard\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong><u>Stampede Vineyard<\/u><\/strong><\/a> in Lodi!<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">They had cool weather and an ample crop. So, they had a little extra fruit.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">This wine was only made in 2023. Only 25 cases were made!<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The 2022 Post &amp; Vine \u201cOld Vine Field Blend\u201d from Mendocino.<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">These grapes are dry farmed and more resistant to the heat and drought.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Old Vines in general are better positioned for harsher weather.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Vintage Updates<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">2020, 2021, and 2022 were all extreme drought years.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">2022 was the third year of drought and heat. Smaller berries and smaller crops.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">2023 was in between 2018 and 2019. Fresh wines. More red fruit. Brawnier than 2022.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">2024 was a lot like 2019. With more acidity and less tannin.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">2025 is shaping up nicely. A lot of powerful tannins.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">2026 &#8211; They are three weeks ahead of 2025. They expect to pick early.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Below is a summary of the terrific Quintessa and Post &amp; Vine wines that we covered with Rebekah.
