2004 Klassen Merlot![]() Winery: Klassen Vintage: 2004 Wine Name/Vineyard: Wine Category: Merlot Grape blend: Merlot with a little Petite Verdot Region: Calaveras County State or country: CA Price: $15 Cases produced: unknown KWG Score: 88 (based on 1 review) Ken's Wine Rating: Very Good (89.99-87) Review date: July 8, 2007 Wine Review: This black cherry colored wine has very aromatic cherry and chocolate bouquet. On the palate, this light red wine is a bit thin, has vanilla notes and nice cherry fruit flavors, some acidity comes through, but it is relatively easy to drink. The finish is dry and dusty. The panel thought this would be a decent glass pour at a restaurant. Enjoy – KWGTP Winemaker Notes: The long growing season at 2100 feet in the Sierra Foothills allows for complete ripening of Merlot. The addition of a small amount of Petite Verdot completes the wine. It is dark in color, has a classic Merlot nose and a weighty, rich mouth feel; a perfect wine for roast, fowl, rich pastas and stews. Drink now or hold until 2009.
