Wine Review: This is the third year in a row that we have recommended this “organic” Cabernet from Volker Eisele. This dark ruby colored wine opens with a spicy black cherry like bouquet with hints of tobacco leaf. On the palate, this medium bodied wine is balanced, a bit racy and smoky with spicy black cherry flavors and hints of black pepper. The finish is dry and its noticeable tingly tannins linger for quite some time. The panel would pair this wine with pepper encrusted steak or meatloaf with roasted vegetables. Enjoy - KWGTP

Winemaker Notes: The 2005 vintage Cabernet Sauvignon has 18% Merlot blended in to soften the tannins for palate feel and add desirable aromas for complexity. The wine is deep garnet in color, varietally true to type in aroma, and well balanced on the palate. This wine has a long future, but can be enjoyed today for it’s vibrancy of flavor.

Clinking Glasses Before Tasting Wine: Originates from medieval times. Milk was often spoiled, water was often polluted. Wine was usually safe. The host would drink the wine first and then clink glasses with guests to show the wine was good and safe for drinking.
