Wine Review: This midnight purple colored Merlot based wine from Tuscany opens with a black cherry and cedar bouquet with hints of licorice. On the palate, this wine is full bodied with integrated medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is nicely balanced, very smooth and savory. The flavor profile is a stewed black plum and oak blend with notes of black licorice and black tea. I also detected hints of clove, black cherry, and Chinese five spice. The finish is very dry and its tannins build-up and stick around for a very long time. I would pair this very impressive wine with a well-marbled ribeye. Enjoy – Ken

Winemaker Notes: An intense red color showing purple tones. Black pepper, cloves, and ripe fruit flavor. On the palate, ripe fruit notes are accented by some delicate savory characteristics and a vegetal finish. Sweet, well-balanced tannins. Nice volume and good persistence. Pair with braised meats or game roasts.
