Wine Review: This dark red colored Beaujolais from the laudable 2020 vintage opens with a violet and black cherry bouquet with hints of black tea. On the palate, this wine is full bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round and savory. The flavor profile is a mild mulberry and cherry blend with notes of oak and black tea. I also detected hints of stone dust, cinnamon, and a touch of black licorice. The finish is dry, and its dusty tannins linger and last for quite a long time. This wine needs food and air. It then paired perfectly with bang bang shrimp. Enjoy - Ken

Winemaker Notes: The Le Clos des Bachelards cuvée is one of the rare Beaujolais wines. The monks had identified this Clos for its singularity due to its blue clays, unique in Beaujolais. The color is deep, almost black, with aromas that are not very intense at first, but of great power which gradually reveal themselves with notes of violet, old rose, licorice, bay leaf and black pepper. The wine is powerful and fine at the same time with dense and silky tannins, its length does not end. This exceptional wine is a UFO that has few equivalents in France. This wine is unique, it is local.
