Wine Review: This slightly opaque and very dark purple colored wine opens with a fragrant blackberry bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, very nicely balanced, and smooth. The flavor profile is a tasty black raspberry with a touch of oak, boysenberry and a hint of black pepper. The finish is quite dry and its dusty tannins are moderate and stick with you for a while. This blend is very food friendly and it would pair well with barbecue steak tips. I would even use a little in the marinade. Enjoy – Ken

Winemaker Notes: The 2006 Hillside Cuvee is an elegant and classic Bordeaux blend with a moderated California fruit influence. It has complex aromas of black fruits, with hints of cassis, raspberry, licorice and a touch of violet and chocolaty oak. In the mouth the wine displays full-bodied fruit, floral, and earthy components, with a ripe finish and rich, lingering tannins. It should age well for another five to seven years.
