Wine Review: This ruby colored blend from South Africa opens with a cedar and Slim Jim bouquet with hints of black cherry and chocolate. On the palate, this wine is full bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round and savory. The flavor profile is a cedar and cured meat blend with notes of red currant and black pepper. I also detected hints of spiced red plum, fig, and loam. The finish is dry, and its moderate tannins stick around for quite some time. I would pair this wine with Jiko’s wild boar tenderloin. Enjoy – Ken

Winemaker Notes: The iconic Left Bank-based blend from De Toren Fusion V is meticulously crafted from Bordeaux’s ‘Noble Five’ varietals and, with its complex flavors of licorice, black cherry, cedar, and dark berries, it offers a stylish departure for sophisticated oenophilic tastes. Soft as spun silk, with a lingering hint of sweet fruit on the back palate, this is a wine that will only improve with age.
