2007 Dogwood Cellars Zinfandel "Mendocino"![]() Winery: Dogwood Cellars Vintage: 2007 Wine Name/Vineyard: "Mendocino" Wine Category: Zinfandel Grape blend: 100% Zinfandel Region: Mendocino State or country: CA Price: $28 Cases produced: 716 KWG Score: 91.2 (based on 4 reviews) Ken's Wine Rating: Very Good+ (91) Review date: March 7, 2010 Wine Review: This very dark ruby colored wine was textbook in terms for classic Zinfandel fruit flavors. It opens with a fragrant red raspberry and dried cranberry bouquet. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, balanced, and very juicy. The flavor profile is a very tasty lush black raspberry with hints of black pepper. The finish is dry and its mild tannins are pleasant and allow its fruit presence to continue for a while. This wine would pair especially well with a messy rack of ribs. It went well with my meat lasagna as well. Enjoy – Ken. Winemaker Notes: Aromas of deep ripe berries and exotic spices are followed by flavors of boysenberries, dark cherries, raspberries, sage, brown sugar, and creme brulee.
