Wine Review: This delicate and complex sparkler is medium golden yellow. It displays long lasting fine streaming bubbles in the glass. The bouquet features lively aromas of apple peel, Anjou pear, wet slate, lemon verbena, toasted almond, and hint of cinnamon. On the palate, it is slightly creamy and quite frothy, medium bodied with medium-plus acidity, which is balanced by ripe fruit, and a textured mouthfeel. There are flavors of strawberry rhubarb pie, honeycrisp apple, crushed oyster shells, lemon curd, ginger, and almond brioche. The finish is refreshing and lingers for a while. Serve this very good sparkler with mushroom and Gruyere cheese mini quiches. - Mark

Winemaker Notes: The Sonoma Brut sparkling wine is dominated by Pinot Noir, a stylistic decision enabling the complex aromatic and palate profile that this red-skinned grape contributes to brut cuvées. The wine opens with delicate pear and floral notes that are backed by toasty almond. On the palate, lively citrus, toast, and apple flavors are overlaid with persistent effervescence, a creamy mid-palate and a toasty finish. This wine is tremendously versatile.
