Wine Review: This ruby colored Zinfandel from Grgich opens with a strawberry rhubarb like bouquet with hints of leather and smoky oak. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, shows nice acidity, yet has a velvety presence. The flavor profile is more Amador in style than Napa so it fooled me a bit. Those flavors were a prominent prune, rhubarb, and cedar with nicely integrated black pepper and a hint of blackberry. The finish is dry and its ripe fruit flavors linger for quite a while after it is gone. The panel suggested that this Zin would pair well with a tangy pulled pork sandwich or Bayou pork with dirty rice. Enjoy - KWGTP

Winemaker Notes: We co-fermented the Zinfandel with a touch of Petite Sirah to add complexity and structure and then aged the wine in large oak casks so the flavors are well integrated but not overwhelmed by oak. Pure Zinfandel flavors of strawberries, raspberries and a hint of dried sage make this wine the perfect match for grilled steak, smoked brisket and pasta or pizza topped with tomato sauce.
