Wine Review: This pale straw coral colored Sparkling Wine from Iron Horse opens with lots of random tiny bubbles. The bouquet features bread dough, almond paste, and lemon verbena aromas. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round and savory. The flavor profile is a walnut, lemon tea and white pepper blend with notes of biscuit and stony minerality. The finish is dry and its acidity and flavors drift away nicely. This Sparkler whose proceeds are intended to protect the ocean would pair well with oysters. Enjoy – Ken

Winemaker Notes: The 2019 Ocean Reserve is a special, limited production, vintage Blanc de Blancs. This is a giving wine: a portion of every bottle sold goes to help protect our ocean. The Ocean is the engine of our microclimate, which allows us to make Sparkling Wine on this level of finesse. The recipient changes with the vintage. This year, the Marine Mammal Center in Sausalito, CA. As for the wine, the nose is a very inviting tropical fruit, lychee and green apple. Green apple and lemon zest on the front palate. Creamy and rich throughout the palate. Great minerality in the mid to back palate with a touch of salinity on the finish.
