Wine Review: This light yellow colored Sauvignon Blanc from Joseph Phelps won our mini-blind tasting of high end Sauvignon Blancs. It opens with a mild pear bouquet with hints of vanilla and asparagus. On the palate, this wine is a medium bodied, balanced, elegant, and pleasantly crisp. The flavor profile is a tasty mild green pear with green apple and touch of minerality. The finish is dry and rather pleasant. This very impressive Sauvignon Blanc is very food friendly and would pair quite well with swordfish. Enjoy - Ken

Winemaker Notes: The 2009 season was cool overall compared to the previous nine years, allowing the Sauvignon Blanc to develop perfectly. The three separate blocks on the home ranch were harvested toward the end of August, and the cool growing season flawlessly captured fruit and floral aromatics and focused acidity. Aromas of lemon curd, white flowers, honeydew, allspice and notes of wet stone are followed by a balanced palate with fresh acidity and length.
