Wine Review: This very dark ruby colored Cab from Lail opens with a moderate black cherry bouquet with hints of eucalyptus, pine, and cassis. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, and shows generous acidity and jammy fruit. It also smoothes out quite nicely with some air. The flavor profile is ripe black raspberry with notes of black pepper. There was also some anise and gentle oak mixed in as well. The finish is very dry and its building tannins run on for quite a while. I had suggested in my notes that this wine was a true cellar dweller. In the near term it would be best to decant it and serve it with a ribeye or a thick cut of prime rib. Enjoy - KWGTP

Winemaker Notes: If I had to use one word to describe this wine, it would be seamless. Complex notes of cocoa, charcoal, black fruits, and pencil lead give a sense of amazing complexity. Powerful and seductive, this wine lingers on the palate for more than 20 seconds. As the 2006 reminded us of Chateau Latour from Pauillac in Bordeaux, the 2007 would be more reminiscent of the great wines from Chateau Margaux. - Philippe Melka, Winemaker
