2006 Lokoya Cabernet Sauvignon "Mount Veeder"![]() Winery: Lokoya Vintage: 2006 Wine Name/Vineyard: "Mount Veeder" Wine Category: Cabernet Sauvignon Grape blend: 100% Cabernet Sauvignon Region: Mt. Veeder State or country: CA Price: $225 Cases produced: 669 KWG Score: 95 (based on 3 reviews) Ken's Wine Rating: Excellent (95) Review date: September 25, 2009 Wine Review: This Mount Veeder Cab from Lokoya was one of the best wines that I tried on my recent trip to California. It is very dark opaque purple colored and opens with a ripe blackberry like bouquet. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, very well balanced, big, and juicy. The flavor profile is a ripe blueberry with notes of blackberry and spice. The finish is dry and its building but managed tannins linger for quite sometime. This fruit forward Cab will appeal to readers who like big juicy Cabs. Pair this beauty with a thick and juicy New York strip steak. Enjoy - Ken Winemaker Notes: "Like Michael Phelps in a swimming pool, the 2006 Mount Veeder has an intensity that one can't help but celebrate. With aromas of violets, espresso bean, and minerals and a mouthfeel that is fully textured, layered and spilling over with dark berries, sweet tannins and cassis, this wine will leave you deeply exhilarated, as though you have just won the 200 meter butterfly at the Beijing Games."
