Wine Review: This very good Cabernet from Markham is slightly opaque and very dark ruby colored. It opens with a very fragrant blueberry bouquet with hints of spice, menthol and plum. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, nicely balance, and juicy. The flavor profile is a tasty plum with notes of extracted blackberry and oak. He also detected hints of dark chocolate and blueberry. The finish is dry and its moderate tannins and plentiful fruit flavors are nicely prolonged and linger for quite some time after the wine is gone. I would pair this wine with a thick cut of prime rib. Enjoy - Ken

Winemaker Notes: When allowed to breathe, wet rock austereness opens into blackberry jam, vanilla and nutmeg oak with Satsuma plums. Caramel bread pudding aromas are layered with the floral highlights of violets and hints of black pepper and licorice. Ripe blackberry jam fruit is wrapped in youthful tannins which will demand extended bottle aging in the short-term. Decanting (or further bottle age) will develop the rich, sexy texture that accompanies the alluringly lengthy finish found in our Calistoga Estate wines. This terroir driven wine will demand attention and a well seasoned rib-eye steak for competition.
