Wine Review: This opaque and midnight purple colored Syrah from McPrice Myers opens with an interesting birch beer and smoked meat bouquet with hints of blackberry and oak in the background. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, slightly acidic and round. The flavor profile is a red plum and milk chocolate blend with notes of smoked meat and hints of thyme and faint strawberry that emerge after the wine is gone. The finish is dry and its moderate dusty tannins stick around for a while. This wine is very food friendly for a Syrah. I would pair it with grilled German weisswurst and a Bavarian pretzel.
