2008 Merryvale Pinot Noir "Stanly Ranch"![]() Winery: Merryvale Vintage: 2008 Wine Name/Vineyard: "Stanly Ranch" Wine Category: Pinot Noir Grape blend: 100% Pinot Noir Region: Carneros State or country: CA Price: $65 Cases produced: 277 KWG Score: 90 (based on 1 review) Ken's Wine Rating: Very Good+ (90) Review date: May 20, 2010 Wine Review: This black cherry colored Pinot took a little while to fully open up, but when it did, the panel really enjoyed it. It opens with a mild red raspberry and black tea like bouquet with just a little bit of heat detected. On the palate, it is medium bodied, balanced, and shows pleasant acidity. The flavor profile is a blend of black cherry and black raspberry with lots of spice and black pepper. The finish is dry and its mild tannins are dusty and linger a bit. The panel would pair this Pinot with Steak au poivre or venison sausage. Enjoy – KWGTP Winemaker Notes: Our 2008 Estate Pinot Noir shows notes of perfumy fruit (cherry, wild strawberry) that is accentuated with vanilla bean and spice (clove and star anise). A soft, supple and round entry, leads to a richly textured and silky mid-palate. Layers of complex fruit and oak notes are woven together, and the wine finishes with a seamless, lengthy finish. The wine will improve for five to seven years. Organic status: not organic Buy it: Use 1000 Corks to find stores that sell Merryvale 2008 Stanly Ranch Pinot Noir.
