Wine Review: This ruby colored Zinfandel from the Oakley Road Vineyard in Contra Costa County opens with a fragrant red raspberry and red currant bouquet with hints of vanilla, black cherry, and leather. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with integrated medium acidity. The mouthfeel is very nicely balanced and almost silky smooth. The flavor profile is a tasty red plum and herbal tea blend with notes of spice and black cherry. We also detected hints of orange zest and anise. The finish is dry and its dusty tannins build-up and linger for quite some time. The Tasting Panel would decant this Zin and then pair it with a NY Strip steak in the next couple of years.
