Wine Review: This slightly opaque and very dark purple Syrah finished in first place in our big blind tasting. It opens with a very mild black raspberry bouquet with hints of anise and smoky oak. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, well balanced, and smooth. The flavor profile is a tasty mild blackberry with notes of blueberry and a hint of menthol. The finish is dry and its fine tannins build up slightly and linger. The panel felt this wine was still young and had lots of potential to evolve. In the near term it would is a fine food wine and would pair well with filet mignon with a mushroom risotto. Enjoy – KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: This syrah commands attention with a dense, black garnet hue accompanied by generous aromatics; blueberry, black currant, white pepper and savory notes of pancetta introduce a wine that is big boned and bold, yet complex and nuanced. Unfolding in layers of blackberry, plum and dried herbs, the palate is still brooding but declares itself with authority, finishing long with firm tannins and notes of cedar and spice.
