Wine Review: This Riesling from Red Newt consistently over delivers for the money. The 2016 “Circle” is almost clear in color and opens with a green grape and Granny Smith apple bouquet with hints of petrol. On the palate, this wine is light bodied, delicately off-dry, and soft. The flavor profile is a gentle minerality and ripe Anjou pear blend with hints of ginger, chamomile tea and a touch of yellow grapefruit. The finish remains off-dry and fades away nicely. The Panel suggested pairing this very good value Riesling from the Finger Lakes with baked haddock with a Ritz cracker crumble or warm brie with honey and green apple slices. Enjoy - KWGTP

Winemaker Notes: Circle Riesling is meant to be a quintessential example of Finger Lakes Riesling; a touch of residual sugar to bring out the rich orchard fruit flavors without overwhelming the lemon zest and citrus that make it crisp and refreshing to drink. The overall wine is easy to drink, but made with as much seriousness and as many individual layers as any Riesling from Red Newt. The philosophy is simple; a crowd pleasing wine should still be multifaceted.
