Wine Review: This dark ruby colored Pugnitello opens with a musty barnyard and blackberry bouquet. On the palate, this wine is full bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is round, very smooth and dusty from the tannins. The flavor profile is a concentrated blackberry, cedar, and crusted stone blend with notes of black tea and stewed black plum. I also detected some orange zest and anise towards the end. The finish is dry, and its dusty tannins are initially prominent prior to settling down with aeration. I would decant this Pugnitello prior to pairing it with Jiko's wild boar tenderloin. Enjoy – Ken
