Wine Review: This dark garnet colored Zinfandel from Seghesio opens with a cedar and black currant bouquet with hints of cinnamon and mulberry. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with integrated medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, smooth and fresh. The flavor profile is a black raspberry and stewed plum blend with notes of clove and black cherry. I also picked up some hints of cinnamon tea, graphite, oak, and black pepper. The finish is dry and its flavors, acidity, and mild tannins drift away nicely. This very good value Zin would pair nicely with a messy rack of Firefly’s Memphis barbecue baby back ribs. Enjoy – Ken

Winemaker Notes: Our Sonoma Zinfandel represents our ideal expression of Sonoma County Zinfandel in any given vintage. Our Sonoma Zinfandel is bright, richly fruited, bold, and always balanced. It opens with intense aromatics of currant and plum are complemented by savory notes of black olive, anise, and allspice. A bright entry of briary black raspberry gives way to a bold palate of supple, lively tannins and a powerful, lingering finish. Pair with rich and meaty short ribs, braised pork belly, or gnocchi gorgonzola.
