Wine Review: This very dark ruby colored Merlot from Washington State opens with a ripe blackberry and black licorice. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced, and fruity. The flavor profile is a ripe black raspberry with notes of blueberry and acai berry. I also detected a hint of oak and touch of anise. The finish is dry and its mild tannins are dusty and linger in your mouth for a while. This Merlot would pair well with barbecue ribs and it will appeal to fans of Aussie Shiraz. Enjoy – Ken

Your comments on this wine:

Cork Lore: A cork tree must be at least 25 years old before its bark can be harvested the first time, but it cannot be used for wine stoppers until the third harvest. Cork trees can be stripped of their bark no more than every 9 to 12 years. In one harvest, enough cork is removed from the average tree to make 4,000 wine stoppers.
