2009 Spring Valley Vineyard US Red Blend "Frederick"![]() Winery: Spring Valley Vineyard Vintage: 2009 Wine Name/Vineyard: "Frederick" Wine Category: US Red Blend Grape blend: 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 31% Cabernet Franc, 7% Malbec, 5% Petite Verdot, & 2% Malbec Region: Walla Walla Valley State or country: WA Price: $50 Cases produced: 2,000 KWG Score: 91.3 (based on 3 reviews) Ken's Wine Rating: Very Good+ (90) Review date: July 18, 2012 Wine Review: This wine opens with a fragrant black plum and black currant bouquet with hints of clove and cedar. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, smooth and rich. The flavor profile is a dense black currant with notes of black pepper and black licorice. I also detected hints of espresso and dark cocoa. The finish is dry and its tannins are spicy and a touch hot. This blend is very young and tight. I would expect that it would benefit from several years in the cellar for its fruits to mellow and meld together. Winemaker Notes: The 2009 Frederick opens with concentrated aromas of blackberry and peppercorn on the nose, leading into a big, rich palate of dark fruits and balanced tannins that will age with style. The finish is a lingering burst of dark chocolate and caramel notes. Serge Laville, Winemaker Organic status: not organic Buy it: Use 1000 Corks to find stores that sell Spring Valley 2009 Frederick.
